Lily wiped her eyes as she went home. She had spent the rest of her time at practice crying, being angry at Thunder, and practicing. When Lily got home, she rushed to her parents. Thunder… Insulting… Punko…” Lily sobbed. “Whoa, whoa, whoa slow down there, sport.” Mr. Miyazaki said. So, Lily told him the whole story, about Punko and how he insulted each one of them. When Lily finished Mr. and Mrs. Miyazaki stood up and strode over to the phone. Lily blinked in confusion. Why didn’t her parents help her? She realized that they were at the phone a moment later and decided to do some homework to take her mind off it. Better to use this energy than waste it.
As Lily went to bed, she thought about Punko and why he had insulted them. Suddenly, Lily got an idea. Had Thunder insulted every other team, or had they just insulted them? She thought about this until she dozed off, with another day ahead of her.
When Lily got to school the next day, she couldn’t stop squirming. She wiggled so much that Mrs. Weddepohl asked, “Are you OK, Lily?” At last it was 12 o’clock. Lily rushed to the practice room and darted inside. “Guys,” she panted, “I missed you so much!” Violet’s eyes twinkled with amusement. “You just saw us yesterday.” She pointed out. “I thought of something.” Lily said. “What?” Sundew raised her eyebrows.” Did Thunder only insult us, or did they insult the other teams too?” Lily answered, “Hmmm.” Violet said, “that’s a thought to consider.” “Wait,” Skye said. “I just realized that we need a lead singer.” “I could do it,” Sundew offered. “Flute doesn’t play that big of a role in Trip to your Heart anyway.” “OK,” Violet nodded.
“Where is Bamboo?” Lily asked. “Probably late again,” Violet replied. Sundew sighed. “He’s going to have to fix his tardiness if we want to get first place in the competition.
“Did anyone practice at home?” Violet asked. Sundew, Skye, and Lily sheepishly shook their heads. Just then, Bamboo came into the room. “Bamboo! You’re here!” Lily shrieked. She ran over to hug him. “Uh… I’m happy to see you too.” Bamboo said awkwardly, “Did you practice at home?” Violet asked hopefully. Bamboo shook his head. Violet sighed, but here disappointment didn’t seem to affect Lily. “Sundew’s going to be the lead singer in the band,” Lily said excitedly.
“Nice,” Bamboo said. He turned to Violet. “Should we bring our instruments tomorrow?” Violet nodded. “Yeah.” “Um…” Skye interrupted, “do any of us know how to play Trip to your Heart on your instrument?”
