When Lily got home, she said a quick hello to her parents and went straight to her room to do homework. Mrs. Weddepohl and basically every other teacher Lily had given her homework. She started on Mrs. Weddepohl’s homework first. She had pages 31 through 35 in her workbook as homework.
Lily looked at the first question: how are cats classified in the animal kingdom? She wrote down the answer immediately: felidae. She looked up the next question: how many muscles do cats have in their ears? 32, Lily wrote down. She looked at the next question: at what temperature do arctic foxes start to shiver? It took Lily a little bit longer to figure out this question, but she figured it out: -91°. She had one more question until she was done she looked at it: how long ago did the dinosaurs die out? 65 million years ago. Lily wrote.
She quickly scanned over a few notes on the next page and moved on to Mrs. Slaven’s homework, she had a review in her workbook to do: review eight. She flipped to the page and begin writing things down: 32°, arcade, swimming pool, grocery store, 45°, angle 30°, acute angle, right angle, scalene triangle, equilateral triangle, isosceles triangle. She wanted to finish the review, but it was 8:30 PM and she still had Mrs. Karthik’s homework. She had to do an essay that was due on Friday.
Lily took out her writing notebook and continued her essay. Even though she had come later in the school year, she was on the second paragraph of her essay. She wrote for 30 more minutes and finished her essay. She would show it to Mrs. Karthik tomorrow. She fell back into bed after putting her stuff into her backpack. She looked up at the clock: 9:00 PM. Mrs. Miyazaki came into the room. “Good night, sweetie.” She said. “Good night, mom.” Lily replied. She drifted into a deep sleep.
